Various media reports last night spoke of a truce in Yemen, as President Saleh agreed to create a succession plan by year-end that would hand power to his son.
But this compromise between Saleh and leaders of the opposition party JMP will not please much of the country.
Al Jazeera says the talks did not go well, reporting an hour ago that talks with the president had reached a deadlock.
Al Jazeera quotes an opposition spokesman: "We asked [President] Saleh to leave; he refused; the street will decide."
It looks like there are elements within JMP that are not happy with the compromise, as well as tens of thousands of youths who were protesting before JMP joined their cause. They want Saleh to leave power within two months. Saleh still plans to stay in power through 2013, reports Al Jazeera. And he's just handing power to his son!
Expect more protests today and of course a Day Of Rage tomorrow.
